“Indigenous Pink Day is a national breast cancer awareness campaign for American Indians/Alaska Natives. The AMERICAN INDIAN CANCER FOUNDATION asks men and women of all ages to wear pink and share photos on social media using the hashtag #IndigenousPink to increase awareness of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death and the most common cancer found in American Indian/Alaska Native women.

The goal of Indigenous Pink Day is to educate all indigenous people on the importance of early detection and remind everyone to keep up to date on their screenings. Regular screening is how you find breast cancer early. Finding breast cancer early can make the difference between life and death.

This is a national event. You can celebrate Indigenous Pink Day with us on Thursday, October 19th from wherever you are. This is how:

Wear pink.
Wear pink to honor breast cancer warriors and survivors and to spread awareness.

Share.
Share a picture of yourself on social media wearing pink with #IndigenousPink.
Tell your friends and family about Indigenous Pink Day and ask them to wear pink and join in on the social fun.
Organize Indigenous Pink Day at your workplace. Ask leadership to encourage all employees to take part.

Get screened.
Talk to your health care provider for advice and information on breast cancer screenings.

Change your Facebook cover photo.
Set the #IndigenousPink banner as your cover photo.
